Creating responsive design in 4 simple steps

The 1900s was a revolutionary era for technology and related inventions. It saw the discovery of computers, internet, websites, smartphones, etc. Initially, the only focus was on these technological discoveries and developments. It was a little later after the elementary software started running smoothly that the aesthetics came into consideration.

Over the years, various smart devices were launched in the market. Most of these devices had internet access on them. Thus, the number of Google searches and website visits from laptops and mobile phones experienced rapid growth. As the screen sizes differed, the user experience on mobile phones lost its friendliness since its original design was for laptop screens. This transitional shift from laptop screens to mobile screens paved the way for Responsive Designs.

What are Responsive Websites? Why are they important?

Websites which can adapt to the screen size of the device you open them in are responsive. The user interface approach used for creating such websites is called responsive design.

Any website that a user visits only gets the first 15 seconds to grab the attention of this new visitor. These are the deciding 15 seconds for the user. In this short time, the user determines if he/she will stay on your website, browse through it and use its services or not. Check the bounce ratio of your website to know about it. Imagine visiting a website on a mobile phone and the first 5-10 seconds are used up only in adjusting the website with the screen size. It feels too much work and is sure to disappoint the user.

Laptops are not as handy as mobile phones and tabs due to which the browsing ratio on these devices has recently increased significantly. The everyday use of varying screen sizes by people, from around the globe, indicates the severity of creating responsive websites.

4 Steps of creating Mobile Responsive Interfaces

We at Team Codesign have created a 4-step process for creating a Mobile Responsive application or website or any interface.

Research

The first step for creating a responsive design is researching. This includes deciding the company goals and priorities. Understanding the company and its working style and expressing the same through a design strategy. Filtering the points that the company wants to highlight and the ones that they want to omit from the website, their priorities is also a vital part of this step. Also, the company’s list of gadgets with which it would want the website to be responsive.

UX Planning

The user experience planning happens by creating wireframes. Wireframes are low fidelity design layouts of a website or application which shows the complete framework of it, starting from the descriptions that will be visible, the position of each content and direction of the interface. When the design is approved, we involve the developers in this stage itself to discuss the technicalities.

Aesthetics

The creation of a look and feel of the interface happens in this process. The crucial element of this step is user interaction. It comprises- design edits for improving the user interaction, giving an aesthetic appeal and shaping the experience of the interface for the user.

Coding

The last step is where the developer’s job begins. The designer hands-over the designs to the developer with a detailed understanding of the concept and the gadgets using which the interface should be made responsive.

The above steps are simple and imperative for creating a responsive design. Our skilled team of designers and developers at TCD can design interfaces that are compatible with gadgets ranging from a smartphone to a smart TV.

Do you feel your business is in dire need of a responsive web design? You need not look any further. You have landed on the most appropriate website and all you need to do to get the solution is fill up this short form.
